Montgomery is where the Black Belt prairie meets the coastal plain and two rivers come together, and rugs fail differently depending on which side of that line they are lying on. A 1915 bungalow in Cloverdale on brick piers over an open crawlspace and a 2012 house on a slab out in Pike Road get the same 51 inches of rain and the same 86 days above ninety degrees, and almost nothing that happens to their rugs is the same.
