Rug Cleaning in Wetumpka
Collection and delivery in Wetumpka are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Wetumpka is built from
The Elmore County seat, on both banks of the Coosa at the fall line, with the Bibb Graves Bridge joining the two halves of downtown. Older houses close in — some antebellum, most nineteenth and early twentieth century — and newer building spread over the hills east of town, which are the eroded rim of an impact crater roughly eighty million years old.
Long-established families plus a growing share of households who commute to Montgomery and wanted the river and the hills. Old houses, old furniture and old rugs are all normal here.
The Wetumpka problem
The water risk in Wetumpka is not a river creeping up over a week, it is a storm that arrives in an afternoon — a tornado came through the downtown on 19 January 2019 and destroyed the First Presbyterian church on the east bank. What that means for a rug is rarely the drama of the day itself. It is the six weeks afterwards. Once a roof is opened a tarp goes on, the contractor's list is long, and every rain between then and the repair puts more water into a house nobody is living in. A rug in that house has been damp for a month before anybody gets to it, and damp for a month stops being a cleaning question and becomes a question of whether the foundation is still sound enough to wash. The other half is the ground: steep land on the crater rim sheds water fast, so a heavy storm can send sheet flow through a ground floor that has never once flooded from the river.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
